Inspire’s on Fire Celebration and Awards Presentation Sept. 16

Inspire Community Fine Art Center will host a “Celebration” announcing the winners of the second annual Inspire’s On Fire Juried Art Competition, Thursday, Sept. 16, from 6:30-9 p.m. at St. Anthony de Padua’s Reception Hall, 102 Lorenz Road. Tickets are $50 each, or two for $75 and may be purchased by calling 210-829-5592 or visiting www.inspirefineart.org. Proceeds benefit Inspire’s community outreach art programs.

Prior to the event, the artwork in the competition will be on display at Inspire Fine Art Center, 1539 East Sandalwood through Tuesday, Sept. 14. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. At both the gallery show and the celebration, people can purchase “dot” stickers for $1 each to use in the People’s Choice Awards competition.

The show was open to artists who live in Bexar and adjacent counties in three categories:

· New Kid on the block (17 years of age and up)
· Amateur Artist (21 year of age and up)
· Professional Artist (21 years of age and up)

Artists were invited to submit original two-or three-dimensional works that have not previously won awards and have been completed in the past two years without instructor supervision.

Winning entries will be announced at the Inspire’s on Fire awards celebration. First prize winners will receive $500 and runners up will receive a $50 Herwick’s gift certificate. There will also be an Overall People’s Choice award, determined by attendees at the reception who will buy dots to vote for their favorite work. The artist whose work gets the most dot “votes” will win half the pot or $100, whichever is greater up to $300.
