Roundtop Festival Institute--Texas Dance Halls Sept. 17,18,19
The forum, titled Texas Dance Halls: Culture and Tradition is also co-sponsored by the Texas Dance Hall Preservation, Inc, will be held September 17, 18, and 19 on the Festival Institute campus in Round Top, Texas. Six distinguished guest speakers present talks on subjects ranging from the distinct style of round dance halls, the migration of immigrants that formed these halls and associations and the music that is part of the dance hall tradition. Dr. Gary Hartman, founder of the Center of Texas Music History, Lonn Taylor noted author, historian and a past director of Winedale Historical Center, and Robb Walsh , food writer and commentator on Texas food cultures are just a few of the speakers assembled for this event.
Reservations are required for all Forum events. Participants may sign up for individual events such as Friday night's music and dinner, Saturday's lectures or Sunday's dance hall tour.
