Texas Music Coalition Kicks off Texas Music Month


Every October the Texas Music Coalition (TMC) starts Texas Music Month rolling with proclamations from the governor and mayor declaring October as Texas Music Month. Plans for Texas Music Month this year include promoting three area music-related educational institutions with TMC ties.

Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.
Music Business Program
San Antonio College’s RTVF Department
Join TMC and TMC’s first president, Donnie Meals, coordinator of the Music Business Program at SAC’s RTVF Department., the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m., in the Radio-TV-Film Department’s Longwith Building auditorium at SAC for a special program on the variety of music business aspects they cover, have your questions answered, take a tour of their fab new facilities – and more! Information on TMC will also be available. The Longwith Building is located on Courtland, between Howard and Main, and parking will be available for attendees in either of the two parking lots adjacent to the building. Saturday, Oct. 9, from 10 – 11 a.m.
NESA North East School of the Arts

Join TMC and TMC President and KONO DJ Steven O. Sellers on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 10-11 a.m., for an event spotlighting the musical talents of North East School of the Arts (NESA) students Ian Frees, Aaron Arguello and Steven S. Sellers at Guitar Tex, 4330 McCullough and an opportunity to learn more about NESA, San Antonio’s premiere magnet high school for the arts, as well as the Texas Music Coalition, from Steven O., father of a NESA student and head of TMC’s Board of Directors. SASIC The San Antonio School for Inquiry and Creativity
TMC and TMC member Dr. Ralph Wirth, administrator at The San Antonio School for Inquiry and Creativity (SASIC), 4616 San Pedro Avenue, invite you to visit the school on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 7 p.m., when Music Coordinator Chris Guerra and Music Director Kyle Wilson will conduct a tour of this unique, tuition-free, art-infused public charter school (with its state-of-the-art recording studio) and a musical showcase of student talent will be presented. The Texas Music Coalition is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 1998 to educate its membership and the public regarding music and the music industry, with the goal of encouraging growth and development of the industry in the San Antonio area. TMC is open to all music genres and members include musicians, songwriters, vocalists, publishers, publicists, venue owners, managers, entertainment attorneys, promoters, producers, studio owners, engineers, DJs, music directors, educators, students and persons in a variety of music-related fields.
