Roots Concert in Fredericksburg--Spicy Food and Spicy Music

Jonas Alvarez
Fans who like lots of spice with their music and meal will find it at the Pioneer Museum this (Sept 25) Saturday during the final Roots Music Concert of the season.

The theme is Latin/Conjunto, and the music features Grammy Award-winners Los Texmanics, Cerronato, and Jonas Alvarez playing on the outdoor stage from 6 to 10 p.m.

Award-winning songwriter Jonas Alvarez starts the music at 6 p.m. with Latin sounds and rhythms from around the world. The Texasmaniacs will perform tunes from their Grammy Award winning “Borders Y Bailes” CD from 7 to 8 p.m. Austin band Cerronato wraps up the evening with virtuoso accordion music featuring Colombian vallenato and cumbia.

To accompany the spicy music, guests can enjoy a hot meal from the Longhorn Street Cafe of 12 oz. rib-eye charbroiled to order, beef or chicken fajitas, or carne guisada, with tortillas, rice, and ranchero beans, plus dessert - all for $9. Tea, sodas, beer, wine and water are for sale on the grounds.

Admission is $12. Students high school age and younger are free. There is a $2 discount for advance online tickets, or with a web page printout. Visit www.pioneermuseum.net.

The Pioneer Museum is located at 325 West Main Street in Fredericksburg, with concert entrance on Milam Street. Gates open and food is served beginning at 5 p.m.
