Presented in partnership with Arts San Antonio, the JCC brings you David Krakauer's Acoustic Klezmer Project!Internationally acclaimed clarinetist David Krakauer redefines the notion of a concert artist. Known for his mastery of Eastern European Jewish klezmer music and avant garde improvisation, Krakauer will entertain and leave a lasting impression.

From Gershwin to Garland; A Musical Journey with Richard Glazier
Enjoy live music in an intimate setting featuring pianist Richard Glazier, recently seen on San Antonio’s local PBS affiliate and hear on National Public Radio. Weaving fascinating commentary with entertaining piano performances, Glazier provides viewers with an opportunity to gain new understanding of — and renewed appreciation for — the great American composers and singers of the past.
In an intimate setting, renowned pianist Richard Glazier performs "Embraceable You," "I Got Rhythm," "Someone to Watch Over Me," "An American in Paris," "Body and Soul," "Concerto in F," "Over the Rainbow" and "Rhapsody in Blue."

Martin Fletcher, NBC News Bureau Chief, will appear at the JCC as part of the Author Series. During three decades covering wars, revolutions and natural disasters, Martin Fletcher worked his way from cameraman to top network correspondent. With humor and elegance, Fletcher describes his growth from clueless adventurer to grizzled veteran of the world’s battlefields.Mr. Fletcher will be discussing his book “Breaking News” and his latest book “Walking Israel” among other pertinent news topics.

Play: The Arabian Nights, A poetic fable by Mary Zimmerman
King Shahryar marries, loves, then kills, a young woman each night – until he encounters Scheherazade. To save her life, she entertains the King with tales of love, lust, hilarity, and sorrow for a thousand and one nights. Her ancient tales magically transform the stage from a king’s bedroom in Baghdad through markets, harems, courts, and a crowded privy, and from heights of hilarity to sobering affirmations of shared humanity.
