The Fire Museum Society will hold its first annual fundraiser, themed Fall in Love with Your Fire Museum, a Fall Art Expo and Fair on Sunday, October 17, from 2-7 PM at Villa del Carmen Estate at 11354 Vance Jackson Rd, San Antonio, TX. Admission to this family event is free and open to the public.
Mayor Julian Castro will be on hand at 3:15 PM to announce the goals of the museum which seeks to establish a legacy for the Fire Fighters who have been an intrinsic part of the culture of San Antonio. The Fire Museum Society seeks funds to restore and refurbish the historic site of San Antonio’s Headquarter Fire Station, Fire Station Number 1, and to convert it into one of the best Fire Museums in the country. More importantly, the funds will also be used to advance public awareness of fire prevention, protection, abatement and education.
Over 50 of San Antonio’s best artists will be displaying their artwork. A percentage of sales during the event will be donated to the Fire Museum. In addition, a silent auction will feature outstanding works of art by well known artists Gilbert Duran, Joe Villareal, Brother Cletus, Henry & Sherry Cardenas, Susan & Aaron Farris, Benny Henry, Priscilla Martinez, Lauren Browning, Jerimiah Heye, Ramon Vasquez y Sanchez, Bryan Neuman, Elsa Matthews, Norma Q., Edwin & Patsy Sasek, Terry Gay Puckett, Charlotte Cox, Sylvia St Jean and many others.
Entertainment will include appearances from singer, Patsy Torres, the Fiesta Noche del Rio Dancers as well as the cool jazz sounds of the West Kings Highway Band. Native American Flute player, Chuck Gibbons and the Cadence Cloggers will round out the entertainment.
A variety of delectable food and refreshments will be available as well.
