Second Sunday Summer Serenades Series Presents Heart of Texas Concert Band

This open-air concert on the banks of the Guadalupe River features an 80 member band whose ages range from 15 to 80. Led by Mark Rogers, with Karl Olson as associate conductor, the band attracts its members from among students, professional people and retirees. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring ice chests, lawn chairs and blankets. Leashed pets are welcome. An ensemble from the Hill Country Youth Orchestras plays prior to each concert.

Miss Saigon

Buried Child by Sam Shepard

The Classic Theatre of San Antonio opens the 2011-2012 Season with a haunting and darkly comic masterpiece. This 1979 Pulitzer Prize winner punctures the Norman Rockwell-like exterior of American family life, revealing a disturbingly rotten core. The play runs through July 24.
