As heard on NPR: Run-ON Sentence--Nationally Recognized Music Group this Thursday

So many people wish they could say they witnessed musical greats before they became household names. This week San Antonioan’s have the chance to do just that in a surprise one-night only music performance of Portland Oregon based band, Run On Sentence. Recognized by both NPR and Oregon Public Broadcasting, Run ON Sentence will be playing this Thursday, August 12, 2010, 7PM-9PM, for a suggested donation of $5-$10, at Riff House Concerts, an intimate music venue in the northeast side of town. Touring behind their second album, You The Darkness and Me, on HUSH Records, full band along with front-man (and sometimes sole performer of the group) Dustin Hamman will be stopping in San Antonio on their coast-to-coast tour. Their debut album released in 2008, Oh When the Wind Comes Down, met with praise which landed them on NPR’s Song of the Day with the song Stonewall. Most recently Run On Sentence was highlighted on Oregon Public Broadcasting’s OPBMusic In-Studio Session (http://opbmusic.org/performances/147-Run-On-Sentence) where other known artists such as M.Ward, The Avett Brothers, Natalie Merchant and Neko Case have performed. If seen more than once, fans will realize Run On Sentence is atypical when it comes to bands. Hannon explains the member dynamic of the band sharing, “Early on, there were three of us but, as was the point of the name, there grew to be what is now a rotating cast of talented folks and currently Run On Sentence could be anywhere from 1-12 people, although it is usually (and ideally) 5-8”. This San Antonio performance is even more unique in nature since this will be at a house concert venue that places the artist in and listeners in an atmosphere that allows for face-to-face interaction with the audience. House concerts limits attendance due to space of homes and popularity of artists. When attending house concerts guests are offered a live music experience rarely received at normal music clubs and bars.
